The Global Theatre Project

At last count, we have 39 total volunteers for our Dec 11 event Especially Now: Create the World Together. One such amazing person is Lynzie Grey, who honors us with her photography on this project.

Lynzie already contributed an album from the first gathering of our ensemble, and soon you can view her latest production photos!

Q: How did you become involved with The Global Theatre Project and why were you interested in helping us?
LG:  I became involved with The GTP through Deirdre Murphy. I hadn’t heard of it before then. I have mostly done portrait-type photography and so I was a little intimidated with the idea of photographing pieces of an event, but also super excited to try something new. Once I did some research on The GTP I was completely on board. I love playing a part, even a small one, in something that works to bring so many people together in a way that is beautiful and inspirational.

Q: What do you love about photography?

Lynzie Grey Photography

LG: I am the type of person who sees the world in lines and colors. I find beauty in everything. Photography is my way of showing people the way I see the world.

Q: Why do you think it is important for Anna Politkovskaya’s story to be heard?
LG: Anna Politkovskaya wrote about what she believed, but she told the ugly truth, for better or for worse. It is important that people are aware of what is going on around them and that journalism isn’t dictated by a person in charge.

Q: How did you feel after the first read-through of the script?
LG: The night of the first read-through of the script was emotional for me. It’s such an ugly, dark story, but at the same time it is unbelievable beautiful and powerful. I found myself getting wrapped up in the actors voices and forgetting that I was meant to be taking pictures. Beautiful and powerful doesn’t even do it justice though, it’s inspiring.

Q: What kind of power do you think art has in the world?
LG: People underestimate art, of any kind, of all kinds. It’s so powerful. Art tells stories, explains feelings, makes points, entertains, teaches, inspires new kinds of art, inspires period.
